PSCA Discussion Groups· Answers To Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q I know Im supposed to set my membership to No Email if I plan to turn on an auto-responder; how do I do that?
A There are two ways to temporarily configure your PugetSoundCoaches and/or your PSCAPromo membership for No Email.
The first is to log onto Yahoo Groups, click on My Groups (upper right) and then click on the Edit My Groups tab. From there, you can edit your preferences for Message Delivery as well as email address and Yahoo profile in use for any Yahoo group you belong to.
Q Im only subscribed to one group. How do I subscribe to the other one? A The basic process for subscribing is the same for each discussion group. The simplest method for subscribing to a new group is to send an email message to PugetSoundCoaches-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and/or to PSCAPromo-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Q What are my choices for subscription options?
A Both discussion groups for PugetSoundCoaches and for PSCAPromo allow the following options:
Individual Emails each message posted to that group is sent separately.
Daily Digest messages posted throughout the day are collected and sent out as part of a single email message. If no messages are posted that day, no digest is sent.
Special notices No messages are sent out except those identified as special updates by the group moderator.
No Email No messages are sent; messages can still be viewed on the group website.
Additionally, group membership can be modified to convert plain text messages to .htmL or leave the format of messages unchanged.
Q How do I change between Individual Messages and Daily Digest?
A There are two ways to make changes to your subscription options.
First, log onto Yahoo Groups, click on My Groups (upper right) and then click on the Edit My Groups tab. From there, you can edit your preferences for Message Delivery as well as email address and Yahoo profile in use for any Yahoo group you belong to.
You also have the option to send commands as part of an email message. Some useful email commands are:
*This setting is needed to restore delivery after setting NoMail; follow up with Digest command if desired.
Q What is the difference between PugetSoundCoaches and PSCAPromo?
A PugetSoundCoaches is the main discussion group sponsored by the Puget Sound Coaches Association. This email group is reserved for discussions and questions of a general interest to PSCA members as well as special board-approved PSCA announcements. The PSCAPromo discussion group was created to accommodate the interests of individuals wishing to post and/or receive information about events and other promotional announcements while allowing greater freedom of choice as to how these messages are handled separately from general discussion. Please respect the desires of those who may not wish to receive such announcements by restricting promotional messages to only the PSCAPromo discussion group.
Q Im only subscribed to PugetSoundCoaches and Im still getting messages about upcoming events. Why is that?
A In addition to allowing some time to transition promotional announcements to the new discussion group, the PSCA Board may occasionally send or approve announcements that are directly related to the PSCA or ICF activities as appropriate. If you believe there has been some abuse of this system, please report it as soon as possible to the PSCA Board-appointed moderator by sending an email message to PugetSoundCoaches-owner@yahoogroups.com.
Q I cant see messages that Ive posted to the group. Why is that?
A New members are provided read-only access as soon as they join the discussion group however they must be granted access by the Moderator to post messages without intervention. If you believe you have not yet been granted that privilege, please report the discrepancy to the PSCA Board-appointed moderator by sending an email message to PugetSoundCoaches-owner@yahoogroups.com.
Q How do I unsubscribe?
A Should you ever wish to unsubscribe, please send a message to PugetSoundCoaches-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com and/or to PSCAPromo-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com; your request will be processed automatically and a confirmation message will be sent to the same email address used for receiving discussion group messages.
Alternatively, you can log onto Yahoo Groups, click on My Groups (upper right) and then click on the Edit My Groups tab. From there, you can choose to leave any Yahoo group for which you are not a moderator or owner.
Q How do I deal with unsatisfactory situations or suspected abuse?
A It is our genuine belief and hope that most issues that arise can be resolved between individuals directly. Wed like to rely on the efforts of our members to Play Nice and Exercise Good Judgment and stay out of the business of policy-making as much as possible. That said, if efforts to work out acceptable solutions between individuals prove unsatisfactory, or complaints about specific actions begin to increase, we will certainly take whatever reasonable measures are necessary to enforce existing guidelines and/or establish better guidelines as appropriate.
